Role on Projects
For print books, my role has been as both cover and book designer and layout.
Working with the client I would either take cover design concepts and work them to fit the preferred format, or create the designs and work with client for appovals.
For the book interior, once the final manuscript has been drafted and edited, I create the template in InDesign and set up the book layout. Using global styling and global page templates, I created the final layout to review for client approval and final editing.
For eBooks, research is regularly conducted into best methods and industry standards depending on the end use. My preference is to create an alternate InDesign document for epub once the print book has been finalized and approved.
I have managed these books using KDP accounts to deploy books to Amazon and to market and track sales.

Several clients have had the opportunity and the desire to publish books and eBooks mostly using Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.
For the Bella Sara brand, a series of books about these magical horses was written by the brand creators. These books were published and distributed by Harper Collins. Bella Sara retained the rights to create eBooks. I created 10 eBooks with color cover and black and white interior, for distrubution on Amazon.com for kindle.
For artist Douglas Granum, the client had written several fiction books and wished to find lower cost ways to self-publish and get his work out. I worked with the artist to take the original designs to 6×9 paperback books to be sold and distributed on Amazon.com. We have also created eBooks for kindle for the same platform.
